bKIT™ Virus Finder COVID-19 Saliva

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) is a strain of coronavirus that causes Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the respiratory illness responsible for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. SARS‑CoV‑2 undergoes frequent recombination of the positive-sense single-stranded RNA (+ssRNA) about 30,000 bases long that encodes several proteins among which the spike, envelope, membrane, and nucleocapsid structural proteins.

Use

The HYRIS bKIT™ Virus Finder COVID-19 Saliva is a CE-IVD real-time RT-PCR assay intended to be used for the in vitro diagnostic qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid in saliva specimens collected by a healthcare professional from individuals suspected of COVID-19 disease.

Therefore, no sample extraction is mandatory prior to the RT-qPCR. The SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection occurs through specific primers and probe sets for the viral nucleocapsid gene (N gene).

Mix 1:

  • 2019-nCoV_N1: nucleocapsid (N) gene for specific detection of SARS-CoV-2 (FAM)
  • RPP30: human RNase P as sampling and RT-qPCR control (HEX)

Mix 2:

  • 2019-nCoV_N2: nucleocapsid (N) gene for specific detection of SARS-CoV-2 (FAM)
