Chlamydia trachomatis Detection kit

Chlamydia trachomatis is one of the three species of Chlamydia along with Chlamydia pneumoniae and Chlamydia psittaci. The bacteria mainly cause sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and trachoma. While genovar A, B, Ba and C give rise to trachoma, lymphogranuloma are determined by LGV-I, -II and -III. Finally, genovars D and K determine oculogenital disease. The C. trachomatis genome is 1,042,519 base pairs long with 894 coding sequences1, 2.

C. trachomatis is the most frequent STD in the United States, with about 3 million cases emerging annually causing from 250,000 to 500,000 cases of pelvic inflammatory disease and 250,000 cases of epididymitis. In addition, the infection facilitates HIV transmission. The disease is generally unrecognized or inadequately treated; infertility, ectopic pregnancy, or chronic pelvic pain may result from the infection ascending the reproductive tract1, 3.

Mode of transmission

C. trachomatis infection could be transmitted through unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Infection can be transmitted from infected mother to infant during vaginal childbirth. Moreover, the risk of transmission rises as the number of sexual partners increases3, 4.

Hyris Innovation

Hyris offers an innovative approach of validating and integrating on its platform the best CE-IVD kits from reagent manufacturers on the market.

For the C. trachomatis kit, Hyris provide an innovative test with specific characteristics:

  • CE-IVD-marked
  • Validated on biological matrices such as: dry swabs and liquid-phase pap smears
  • Validated in Real-Time PCR by direct amplification - without DNA or RNA extraction
